Marketing Coordinator

Job Summary:

Under general supervision from Marketing Manager, works independently to manage marketing, media advertising and public relations for Bienen School of Music concerts, residencies, festivals, lectures and other presentations.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Serves as co-editor for promotional materials, including print advertising, postcards, posters, flyers, press releases, social media, email marketing, digital advertising and radio copy. 

  • In coordination with Marketing Manager, manages a part-time student assistant staff that serves as administrative assistants, copywriters/editors and graphic designers. Serves as primary coordinator for annual hiring campaign. 

  • Collaborates with Marketing Manager to prepare marketing plans and promotional strategies for Bienen School of Music concerts. 

  • Updates and maintains content of Concerts and Events web pages. 

  • Coordinates concert office direct mail campaigns (lists, trades, mail house, etc.) 

  • Manages the distribution of marketing materials on the Northwestern campus and surrounding community. 

  • Performs related duties as required or assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A four-year college degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.

  • Two years of professional experience working in marketing, public relations or communications.

  • Demonstrated experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, communications, graphic design, music or arts administration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of classical music and the performing arts.

  • Web design experience.

  • Basic video editing experience (including assembly, titling, and captions). 

Preferred Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.

  • Knowledge of video editing software such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, or iMovie.
